A 720MW solar farm in NSW has been given conditional approval by the state’s Independent Planning Commission (IPC).
UPC/AC Renewable’s New England Solar farm will comprise more than 2.4msolar panels and generate enough energy to power 250,000 homes.
The $768m project will be built on 2000ha of mostly cleared land 6km east of Uralla.
The IPC decided the solar farm was in the public interest and determined to approve the state significant development application, subject to conditions.
Construction of the solar farm is expected to start towards the middle of the year.
The project will create up to 700 jobs during construction and provide work for local businesses.
